Fishman For Senate Launches

Beverly, MA

Libertarian Daniel Fishman, who garnered over 16,000 votes in the 6th Congressional District election last fall, has announced his bid to get on the ballot for the Special Election for Senator in Massachusetts.  Upon announcement, Fishman commented on the personal impact of constantly campaigning and the reason behind his resolve to continue.

“Frankly, I understand the reluctance of Scott Brown and Richard Tisei to run in this race.  I too campaigned last summer and fall, and in November was relieved to be done with the rigmarole of politics.  And I was also working an 8-6 job at the same time.”

“But the thing I became most aware of on the campaign trail is that there is a large group of citizens in Massachusetts who are not being represented by the Democratic machine, which elects favored sons time after time; nor are they represented by the Republican Party which is tied to a national platform of social intolerance since 1950.”

“I am the most fiscally conservative and the most socially tolerant candidate in the race. There is an understanding in Massachusetts that the federal government has become a tool of corporations to protect corporate interests, in that so called ‘regulations’ on corporations often serve interests to the detriment of the People.”

“Government bailed out the banks, limited BP’s liability and wasted half a billion dollars trying to force the People to accept the government’s choice for solar implementation with financially disastrous results.  The government is not protecting the people from corporations — usually the opposite is true.”

“Abraham Lincoln exhorted us in the Gettysburg Address ‘…we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain.  That this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom—and that government of the People, by the People, for the People, shall not perish from the earth.’  We currently do not have a government of the People, nor sadly is it a government for the People; but it can be, and it’s my goal to do that if I become a Senator.”
