Google, TANSTAAFL and the new libertarian religion

8 Nov
I’ve been ill for over a week, with some virus that acts like the flu but isn’t, and that also produces swelling and a shingle-like rash over a sizable part of your body, in my case my foot and leg below the knee.

While ill my Google account – Gmail, YouTube, Blogger – was suspended.

Logging on just produced a message that I had likely violated some term of service and no further information or query or interaction with Google would be possible, except for a one time appeal to an unknown person at Google by way of a form.

For months, beginning a few years ago I could actually see someone “hacking” my Google account as activity in my browser where something was trying to log into my YouTube.  Suddenly my password would not work and I would have to use my recovery email, security questions etc. to reset it. Sometimes I would reset my password and it would happen again within 20 minutes.

I also had a recurring problem that lasted much longer where my YouTube and Gmail were functioning, but this blog and other blogs would disappear, sometimes for up to 36 hours.  And then reappear with no explanation.  Hence I began to mirror them all on WordPress, and even simply to write my longer, original pieces for Breitbart, Daily Caller, etc. and then repost them (often a longer, unedited original form) on my blog with a link to their original publication site later.

Amusingly when I wrote about this on the WordPress version and shared it to a Google+ group for Libertarians several there simply insisted I had to be a bad person who had violated the Google Terms of Service handed to Moses by God when Moses was reincarnated in Santa Clara, California to start a knew religion for libertarians with Aspberger’s syndrome, Moronism.

Today on a lark I did my daily morning attempt to log into my suspended Gmail account (I’d already created a new one and switched any crucial business to it), and Google suddenly asked to text my phone a code, as my account had been subject to suspicious log on attempts.  The screen below was part of the “explanation.”  As of now we are back.

I still have no faith this isn’t just some little Google moderator deciding s/he didn’t like my politics, either on cis/his/its/her own or when reported by some Google user.

This wordpress blog is a mirror of Insomniac Libertarian on blogger.
This weekend, while the blog owner was actually ill in bed, Google suspended the blogger website and its associated gmail address and every blog or other Google product attached.
As a free service Google provides no explanation.googlelogo_color_272x92dp
Is it a glitch?  Starting several years agoInsomniac Libertarianoften disappears for 1 or 2 even up to 36 hours with no explanation, every other month.
Or was some precious snow flake “triggered” and demanded censorship?
Insomniac has the distinction of having been attacked in a variety of much larger publications, including New York magazine.  A tea party blog attached to the same google account, that had been attacked in 2010 on Rachel Maddow’s and Chris Matthew’s shows, and virtually every liberal blog or newspaper, for providing a guide to DC for people attending a Glenn Beck rally, was also wiped out.  It is also mirrored on other sites and can be reconstituted on a new Blogger site this week.
Since we started mirroring and downloading the blog to WordPress and other alternatives years ago when the vanishing first started, we will likely be able to reincarnate 98% of all the original content on a new blog with a similar name,Insomniac Libertarians.
The blogger site actually produced enough traffic to earn a small Google income as well as some money from other advertising.  I guess this is one way for Google not to pay up.

A documentary, slightly comic, playing all this week in DC at the West End Cinema (23rd and M).

Here’s the trailer and some video of the discussion after the (DC) premier, including a call from Dennis Kucinich to “punch the NSA’s card” and a demented, miasmic Obama supporter who worries that Obama’s data collection on his supporters for his campaign will someday fall into the “wrong” hands.

Here’s the panel discussion:

Here’s Dennis Kucinich (in the audience) calling for the abolition of the NSA, and a slightly delusional Obama supporter worrying that the REAL problem is that Organizing for America did such a good job of data collection that the NSA will now vacuum up that data and an evil tea party president in the future will know who he is!  And maybe target him with the IRS!

Here’s the movie trailer:
