Tuckered out? Tuck yourself in with Jeffrey Tucker

The beauty of House of Cards is how it treats government is an insular and closed society of mutual looting of stolen money. All the stakes in every political move affect only those who are playing the game and otherwise have virtually no meaning for the nation as a whole. Government is not the nation’s administrator of law and justice, or a creative engine of social problem solving, much less the heart and soul of a people. It is merely an infrastructure owned and controlled by those with a professional talent for graft, duplicity, raw power ambition, cruelty, manipulation of public opinion, and backed by periodic murder. Architects of the modern state: this is what you built; this is what you unleashed; this is what you have contributed to the social order.
