Top 12 Hottest Libertarian (and libertarian) candidates on the ballot 2014

6 Sep
Among their other crimes, Harry Reid, Chuck Schumer, et al, force us to look at them on the news and the Sunday chat shows!

The candidates below were rated as “hot” on the purely superficial basis of being hot looking.  As it turns out, they all seem to be running respectable campaigns and have respectably libertarian philosophies. (As is always true, there are so MANY MANY others who could have been included, and will be next time!)

Tim Moen
Athabasca, Canada

Parliament
Libertarian Party of Canada

My name is Tim Moen and I have served my community as a firefighter, paramedic, business owner, filmmaker, volunteer as well as a father and husband. I have been living in Fort McMurray for over 13 years and I have lived in the town of Athabasca in the 90’s. Whether I was working as a medic in Athabasca or as a firefighter in Fort McMurray, my primary focus has been on serving and protecting life and property. You may remember me as the guy who worked on a film with Neil Young and then wrote an article (Click Here For Article) outing Neil for his hypocrisy and hyperbole.
I am not a politician and have never been involved in politics; I have no desire to govern people. I understand the fact that I am incapable of controlling the lives of other people by simple virtue of the fact that I’M NOT THEM. I have grown increasingly intolerant over the years of people in government harming individuals by failing to recognize the fact that they neither have the right nor the competence to govern others. Like a fire mindlessly consuming and destroying all property and life in its path, government has an unquenchable appetite for power and money at the expense of its citizens. I intend to do what I can to continue fighting destructive forces and allowing free-born people the chance to continue flourishing by creating value for the world.

Emily O’Neil
Bedford, New Hampshire

State Representative
(Ron Paul) Republican

Ms. O’Neill, recently retired from the military, is a former resident of the DC metropolitan area; a 1st Lieutenant in the NH Army National Guard, Emily provides small businesses and non-profits with public relations and marketing strategies through her own consulting firm, Silver Key Communications, LLC. In addition to her civilian career, she serves as a public affairs officer for a Field Artillery unit.

She is a New Hampshire native, and was raised in New Boston, the youngest of four daughters. Remaining close with her family, Emily assists her parents with a clothing business.
Education
Emily received her B.A. in Communication with High Honors from the University of New Hampshire (UNH). She earned her commission as an officer from the UNH Army ROTC program and was a Distinguished Military Graduate. While in school, Emily led two student organizations, held various leadership roles within ROTC, and trained one weekend a month with a NH Army National Guard unit.
Early Career and Military Service
Following a media internship with a student organization, Emily worked as a press secretary for a high-profile member of Congress. She then shifted her focus to her military career, completing a three-month long Human Resources Course at Fort Jackson, SC, continuing her service as a human resources officer in the Washington, DC Army National Guard.
In additional to her traditional role as a Guardsman, Emily served on orders to develop strategic plans and created a comprehensive antiterrorism manual for the DC National Guard’s Joint Force Headquarters.
Key Issues: Taxes, Budgeting, and the Economy
As an entrepreneur, Emily understands the importance of government stepping aside, and allowing businesses to thrive on their own. Government red tape and burdensome taxes stifle innovation and growth.
These problematic taxes and regulations are often the consequence of reckless spending. With responsible measures put in place, NH should have what every family is expected to maintain: a sensible, balanced budget.
Emily will never vote to raise taxes nor place senseless restrictions on businesses. She will make every effort to cut spending and ensure that tax dollars are spent appropriately and carefully.

About Me

I am the educated choice for State Comptroller, being the only Certified Public Accountant – in fact, the only accountant at all! – running for the office of head accountant for the State of Illinois. The Comptroller’s position is not one of a policy maker; it’s more one of a accounting manager. Does it seem ironic to you that those running for such a position are politicians, not accountants? Well, it does to me, and that’s why I’m running. We need an educated accountant managing Illinois’ books!

Joan Stanley
Bozeman MT

State Senate
Libertarian Party

I was born in New York City and found my way to the beautiful state of Montana via Miami, FL and San Diego, CA.  After twenty five years, I consider Montana my home.  There is no other place on earth that I would rather live.

I enjoy growing organic vegetables, collecting eggs from my chickens, hiking, shooting, fishing, camping, riding my horse, floating the river, and watching the antelope, deer and any other critters that like to hang out on my property and most other things that we Montanans like to do.

I also have a burning desire to help our country, and our great state of Montana rise up from the turmoil we find ourselves in today. That is why I am running for Montana State Senator.
I am not a politician and have not run for the legislature or any other office in the past, but I know that I would represent all Montanans to the best of my ability and fight for the issues that concern them most.

I would be honored to have your support.

I’m a Libertarian. I believe in limited government, less government intervention, individual freedom and moral Responsibility. I oppose the initiation of the use of coercion by anyone upon the person or property of anyone else for any reason.

Libertarians advocate for extremely small (limited) government, which would allow the individual to be free of government intrusion in their life and their wallet.
I support the rational principle of the individual human rights of life, liberty, property, and the pursuit of happiness.

I do not believe that government has the right to dictate to any individual what he or she should or should not do to their bodies. This is one reason why I support the federal legalization of marijuana as well as hemp farming. I also support legalizing and taxing marijuana for all persons over the age of 21, and a gradual controlled withdrawal from the failed War on Drugs and the ending of incarceration of nonviolent drug offenders. (Fact: Colorado: First month of legal marijuana sales yields $3.5 million in taxes and fees. Imagine the revenue going to state, not federally controlled, school programs).

Tax revenue generated from the legalization of Marijuana for recreational use would give us the ability to fund our local school programs and at the same time cut property taxes significantly.
I am a strong defender of the Constitution and will not waiver from my beliefs. At the conclusion of the Constitutional Convention, Benjamin Franklin was asked, “What have you wrought?” He answered, “…a Republic, if you can keep it.”

I am against mass surveillance, The Patriot Act, the NDAA, and all other violations to our Bill of Rights. (I would support a bill to reaffirm Montana citizens’ 4th amendment rights.)
I do not support the U.S. War Machine.

I will defend the right of self-defense by protecting our 2nd amendment right to keep and bear arms.

“The sacred rights of mankind are not to be rummaged for, among old parchments, or musty records. They are written, as with a sun beam in the whole volume of human nature, by the hand of the divinity itself; and can never be erased or obscured by mortal power.” – Alexander Hamilton, 1775

Jeffrey Carson

Arlington VA

U.S. Congress 8th District
Libertarian Party

Jeffrey Carson is running for Congress in Virginia’s 8th district because he believes the public deserves to know the truth about Washington… the truth about everything. He believes the worries that Americans have about the direction of this country are warranted, but that no challenge we face is insurmountable. And he wants to inspire the next generation of Americans by showing them there are everyday people fighting right now to break through party lines, disrupt the status quo, and fundamentally transform the entrenched political landscape in Washington.

Cean Stevens
Anchorage AK

State House
Libertarian Party

I have called Alaska my home for more than 45 years. Having extensively traveled the world, I know that there is no place I would rather be. I have built my businesses here. My friends and family are here. My heart is here. I decided to run for State House as a Libertarian after hearing my neighbors voice their concerns over the challenges we are having in the neighborhood. In the same breath they would exclaim “Well, there’s not much you can do about it”. In my world, there are 3 types of people…
  1. People who make things happen.
  2. People who watch things happen.
  3. People who wonder what happened.
I’ve never been one to sit on the sidelines and watch things happen, or wonder what happened. I would be honored to be your voice in district 19.
My Positions:
  • Rights belong to individuals – not government
  • STOP runaway state spending!
  • Individual liberties
  • Free market solutions
  • Education focused on developing learning and critical thinking skills.
  • Is Alaska equal to other states?
  • Fight for complete ownership of our fish and game resources
  • Increase the PFD by divesting the “Rainy Day Account.”
I’ve worked hard my whole life and I will work just as hard to make sure the needs of our diverse community are not forgotten. If you are curious about libertarians, check here
