DC’s political culture – it’s not only Ann Coulter who wants to drown Libertarians

5 Oct
Ann Coulter famously wrote a column last month advocating drowning Libertarians.  DC’s Columbia Heights Day proves itself far more right wing than Ann Coulter.
They don’t just want to drown us.  They also want to privatize streets and sidewalks for the exclusive use of DC’s PAC funded political ruling class.
I think there is a Putin booth.
I’m sure this is a nice enough person, but attempting to sell me a booth space might have been less …bigoted …and more profitable.  I guess those donations that came in last week will buy ad space in the HillRagetc. instead.  It’s odd that they think renting booths entitles them to do anything more than say who can set up a booth.

I wonder if I am allowed to wear a button or tell people my name if they ask if I stop in to buy lunch?

Subject: Urgent. Reply requested: An invitation for Mr. Bruce Majors to be a dunk tank participant in exchange for a full-day, free flyering at the Columbia Heights Day Festival
To: Columbia Heights Day

I do understand but you probably shouldn’t put things like that in writing

It’s too close to saying people can not speak freely on a public sidewalk unless a PAC has given them money to buy a booth

Sounds great Bruce.
Just a tiny request though: We would love to have you as a spectator at the festival and have you partake in the festivities, but out of respect to all politicians who have paid for a vendor booth, and those signing up for a dunk tank to distribute materials – we urge you to not distribute any campaign materials – unless you are a vendor or dunkable of course. Thank you for understanding.
Please keep us posted in regards to the dunk tank, and look forward to having you there.

Regards,

And S– is not on the board this year but he is still very involved and supportive of Columbia Heights Day. He’ll be at the festival on Saturday, helping us out and partaking in the festivities.

My name is M– P—-r, a long-term resident of Columbia Heights who is part of the volunteer board of directors of the Columbia Heights Day Initiative, a local, independent grassroots 501(c )(3) nonprofit organization that presents the Columbia Heights Day Festival every year. Columbia Heights Day is an annual community festival that celebrates the bustling neighborhood of Columbia Heights, and is a perfect chance for politicians to meet their constituents. It is a great fun-filled day for all ages, packed with a variety of activities, music & dance performances, and showcases the local businesses! This year it is taking place on October 11th and we are expecting more than 5,000 people in attendance from the local area.

I am writing you today to invite you to be a dunk tank participant in exchange for a full day, free flyering at our event (11am-6pm). We are requesting 1 hour of your time in the dunk tank, and all proceeds collected from the dunk tank will go towards the Harriet Tubman Elementary School. We think this would be a great opportunity for the Bruce Majors Campaign to come out and meet and speak with constituents – and be part of the festival day for a good cause in a fun way.  If you are interested in being a participant, please let us know of your availability during the day. Thank you for reading, and have a wonderful day. Best Regards, M– P– Secretary/ sColumbia Heights Day Initiative 3400 11th St. NW #200
