“Deep Web” screening
Please join Reason for a screening of the Epix documentary DEEP WEB, which tells the inside story of the arrest of Ross Ulbricht, the 31-year-old entrepreneur who was convicted in May of being the mastermind and operator the online black market known as Silk Road. Documentary filmmaker Alex Winter, who wrote, directed, and produced DEEP WEB, will participate in a Q&A session immediately following the screening.

Bastiat Prize Contest Deadline
Enter to Win the Bastiat Prize for Journalism and Reason Video Prize
Reason Foundation will award$32,000 in prizes to the writers and filmmakers who best convey the importance of freedom and free markets
The submission deadline for both prizes is July 31, 2015. Winners will be honored at the 2015 Reason Media Awards dinner on November 10, 2015 in New York City.
Bastiat Prize for Journalism
Journalists, bloggers and other writers are invited to enter their work for the Bastiat Prize, which is awarded to writers who deliver simple, eloquent and witty explanations of complex economic ideas that demonstrate the importance of individual liberty and free markets.
The Bastiat Prize winner will receive $10,000, second-place will earn $5,000 and third-place will collect $1,000.
Entries must have been published in print or online between June 30, 2014 and July 31, 2015, and must be submitted using the online entry form. More information and complete rules are available here.
Recent winners of the Bastiat Prize for Journalism include Robert Graboyes (2014, Mercatus Center), Ross Clark (2013, The Times and The Spectator), Anne Jolis (2012, Wall Street Journal Europe), Tom Easton (2011 co-winner, The Economist), and Virginia Postrel (2011 co-winner, Bloomberg News).
Reason Video Prize
The Reason Video Prize honors short-form, online video, film, and moving pictures that explore, investigate, or enrich libertarian beliefs in individual rights, limited government, and human possibilities.
$16,000 in total prize money will be divided between first ($10,000), second ($5,000) and third ($1,000) prize winners.
Entries must have been published online between July 1, 2014 and June 30, 2015 and must be submitted using the online entry form. More information and complete rules are available here.
Past Reason Video Prize winners include Donald Boudreaux and Roman Hargrave (2014, Marginal Revolution University) and Drew Tidwell (2013, Competitive Enterprise Institute).
