The German discount grocer, Lidl, usually described as a cross between Harris Teeter and Trader Joe’s, seems to be finally about to imminently open throughout the U.S.
They moved some time ago into Britain and Ireland. How Brexit will affect them I do not know.
There have been business journalism articles for about a year about Lidl scouting out locations from Atlanta to New Jersey.
Recently I met a Lidl product buyer, an American, who lives in the DC’s DuPont Circle, who was asking people to try American and Canadian manufactured products they may carry here, including cleaning solutions that use lactic acids instead of ammonia or peroxide, I suppose to appeal to the “green” market. I tried them, and though scrubbing your sink or toilet with something derived from milk seems odd, they did work well, almost as good as traditional products, and did leave behind a silky feel, should you be fondling your fixtures soon.
